MAGIC TANGO Beginner Bootcamp - 1 day (6 hours of Intensive workshops) September 16th, 2023 (SAT) 11pm - 2pm Instructor: Tatiana Balashova In collaboration with BAZA DANCE STUDIO (Yaletown, Vancouver) Get a taste of the beautiful Argentine Tango, be inspired and start learning the FUNDAMENTALS of tango leading or following. This bootcamp is good both for beginners and those who want to brush up basic Argentine Tango dancing skills and get lots of tips for improving your dance.. By the end of the bootcamp students will be able to connect to each other in tango dancing, learn a few essential and fun tango patterns and be able to join them into a simple and elegant dance and feel the pleasure of moving counterclockwise in a continuous motion, combining linear movements with circular. BONUSES: Magic Tango Bootcamp students get by email a link to the special playlists with selected tango music for their tango & tango demos by world-renowned instructors, as well as tips for tango practice. Partners will be rotated at the workshop (when coming as a couple, it is still recommended to try doing some exercises with at least 1-2 other partners). EXCHANGE is possible - change of participant or attending another bootcamp/ workshop (using prepaid amount towards a private class) if prepaid, in case you you can't make it to the current one. Notice of minimum 24h is required. In case of any force major changes (cancellation of the event), fees paid by students can be either refunded whenever possible or saved as a credit towards other Magic Tango events and classes (TBD). ________ FAQ: 1) Do I need to have tango or dance experience? Taking part in the bootcamp does not require prior experience in tango, however if you have it it's awesome, you can process information on a different level. If you know one role and would like to start learning another one, you are most welcome to join as well. I teach 10 versions of beginner bootcamps, this is a new one with some elements from the previous bootcamps, so even if you already took a bootcamp, you can learn a lot of things ;). 2) Do I need a partner? No! you can register on your own, however I balance leaders and followers, so the earlier you register the better and more chance to get into the bootcamp. Do invite your friends and feel free to share the event. 3) What is the focus of the bootcamp, what are students going to learn? You will learn a few FUNDAMENTAL CONCEPTS of Argentine tango through beautiful combinations playing with musicality and focusing on the smooth embrace and connection. The bootcamp includes tango drills and practical exercises to ensure an integrative experience of learning tango. We will also touch briefly on etiquette in tango (inviting to dance, refusing politely, floor craft (navigation skills basics). - Argentine tango - basic concepts - Connection with yourself - Connection with the partner - Connection with the floor - Silky Elastic Embrace (specifics of dancing in close & open embrace) - Catlike Walk - Introduction to musicality for tango - Must-know Navigation-friendly Combinations
- Tango Etiquette - practical social skills for dancers (inviting etc) Attention to everyone is guaranteed! 4) Can I drop in to the bootcamp? No! However you can message to say you will know only on the day of the bootcamp. if you text before 10am on August 19th and there is a spot to balance leaders and followers, you might be able to get in. You'd have to pay before arriving on booking + fill out the registration form as other participants. 5) I did some ballroom dancing, is the bootcamp good for me? Having some experience in other dances is not required however it helps with body awareness, musicality, sense of rhythm. You will most likely learn faster than other people. However I would not expect many things overlapping, ballroom tango is very different from Argentine tango. 6) I really want to join the bootcamp yet the day/time does not work for me. When there will be another one? At the moment I cannot confirm the exact date and venue, however there will be at least 1-2 more bootcamps in the fall 2023. ONLINE REGISTRATION: You can pay for the bootcamp by e-transfer, PayPal, or cash / cheque if paid in person in advance. Note: cash only at the door. Please only come if you are fully healthy with no symptoms of cold or any other contagious virus. 2) Wear comfortable clothes and non-marking shoes (ideally some dance shoes, flats are ok), thicker socks without rubber dots on the outsole are fine as well. 3) Be authentic, respectful of other people's space and feelings, be a good listener and communicator if any concerns, you can ask any questions or give feedback to the instructor 4) Bring your bottle of water to stay hydrated. 5) Research parking in advance, to make sure to arrive on time. You can arrive later however the instructor will not have time to explain missed material. If you come more than 15 minutes late to the class, depending on the ratio of students you can be an observer if you missed a lot of material. |
